On the second day of our trip to Osaka, we visited Universal Studios Japan (USJ) with our family. We had an amazing time and made some new friends from Thailand who helped us make the most of our visit. In this post, I’ll share our experience at USJ, including the Harry Potter Castle, Butter Beer, attractions, Spiderman, Parade, and more. I’ll also recommend some great restaurants and shopping spots to check out in Osaka.

Harry Potter World

Our first stop at USJ was the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We were amazed by the attention to detail and the incredible atmosphere that made us feel like we were in the movies. We got an express pass from our new friends from Thailand, which saved us a lot of time waiting in line. We rode Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff, both of which were fantastic.

Next, we visited Hogwarts Castle, where we experienced a breathtaking 4D ride that took us through the world of Harry Potter. The ride was so immersive that it felt like we were part of the story. We also tried the famous Butter Beer, which was a sweet and creamy drink that tasted like butterscotch.

After enjoying the Harry Potter attractions, we explored the rest of the park and tried some of the other rides like Hollywood Dream and Jurassic Park. We also watched a thrilling Spiderman show that left us on the edge of our seats.

The Parade and More Attractions

In the afternoon, we watched the Universal Spectacle Night Parade, which was a spectacular display of lights, music, and floats featuring popular characters like Minions, Harry Potter, and Spiderman. The parade was a highlight of our visit and definitely not to be missed.

After the parade, we visited some more attractions like Jaws, Back to the Future, and Terminator 2. We were impressed by the high-tech effects and the attention to detail in each attraction. The whole family had a blast and we wished we could have stayed longer.

More Attractions

Dinner at Donkatsu Restaurant

For dinner, we went to a local restaurant called Katsukichi, which serves delicious tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and other Japanese dishes. We had a fantastic meal of crispy and juicy tonkatsu with rice, miso soup, and salad. Our son, who is a picky eater, even enjoyed the meal and finished everything on his plate.

Subsequently, we visited a local Okonomiyaki restaurant called Ajinoya, which is known for its savory pancake-like dish filled with cabbage, meat, and seafood. We were impressed by the sizzling hot plate and the skill of the chef who made the Okonomiyaki right in front of us. It was a great way to end the day and experience some local Japanese cuisine.

Osaka Food Experience

Our second day in Osaka was filled with fun and excitement at Universal Studios Japan. We enjoyed the Harry Potter attractions, the thrilling rides, and the fantastic parade. We also had some great meals at Katsukichi and Ajinoya. If you’re visiting Osaka, be sure to check out USJ and these recommended restaurants.
